Dr. Randall Goldberg (Youngstown State University) - – Jewish Music in Response to the Kishineff Pogrom – A look at how composers brought the urgency of European Jews into American living rooms. Randall Goldberg, Assistant Professor of Music History at YSU. Dr. Goldberg will show the important role Jewish composers played in spreading news about the plight of Jews in Europe in the aftermath of the Kishineff pogrom (1903). His presentation will include live and recorded musical examples from Jewish sheet music and 78 rpm records.
