Knitzvah combines a love of knitting and crocheting with mitzvah of reaching out and helping others. Our members come from varying backgrounds, ages, and experiences. Over the past 5 years, we have provided close to 500 blankets, lapghans, shawls, hats, and scarves to variety of local and national agencies including: Access Homeless Shelter, Battered Women's Shelter, Barberton Citizen's Hospital, Northern Cheyenne Nation, Special Olympics, and Ronald MacDonald House.
Coming together to knit and crochet with our group is inspiring. We begin each meeting with a prayer to ask God to accept “The Work of Our Hands” as a sign of gratitude, reverence, and praise. We recite this prayer together to make our gathering more meaningful, to connect with each other, and to inspire us to think about the work we do in a more spiritually fulfilling way. When we gather together to help each other and to help those in need, we are part of a caring community that has shown us that one hand reaching out and making a connection can impact so many people!
We meet on the third Sunday of every month to share, create, and work together. Our work is funded by generous grants and donations from the Jewish Women's Endowment Fund and Beth El Sisterhood.
