What is the J-Ticket?
The J-Ticket program is designed to initiate, maintain and grow Akron Jewish families’ engagement in the community. Think of it as a "bundle of services" at Akron's Jewish institutions. The J-Ticket significantly reduces the cost of the Mandel Early Childhood Education (ECE) program at the Shaw JCC or The Lippman School tuition, and the Shaw JCC traditional Jewish day camp or the Mandel ECE Summer Playhouse. It also includes membership at a participating synagogue and a family membership at the Shaw JCC.
What is the program gift card?
Each J-Ticket also includes a $250 program gift card which may be used to pay for programs/events/activities in the Akron Jewish community—held by any participating Jewish organization or synagogue in Akron.
How does the J-Ticket work?
A Jewish family pays the annual fee for the desired J-Ticket, then the participating agencies and synagogues involved are paid a predetermined amount per J-Ticket by JewishAkron. The Lippman School and Mandel ECE J-Ticket benefits are for the respective school year.
How can I buy a J-Ticket?
Completed applications should be submitted to the e-mail address listed in the program description. The J-Ticket is open to all Jewish families, regardless of financial need. J-Tickets can be purchased by the participants themselves or by family members, such as parents,or grandparents. Payments may be made in full to JewishAkron, or payments can be arranged through The Lippman School or the Mandel ECE, respectively, depending on the ticket purchased. There is usually no payment plan for the Akron J-Ticket, but please contact sgalat@jewishakron.org if a payment plan is needed.
Lippman and ECE J-Tickets may be purchased from March 20th, 2024 - December 31st, 2024. The cost is prorated to 80% of full cost for those who join the program in November or December. Akron J-Tickets may be purchased from March 20th, 2024 - September 1st, 2024.
Can I purchase more than one J-Ticket?
Families may purchase one J-Ticket for the Lippman School and one J-Ticket for the Mandel ECE for a total of two J-Tickets. No family may have two J-Tickets in the same program. A separate application is required for each J-Ticket. The cost of the second J-Ticket is only the cost of tuition at The Lippman School or Mandel ECE. Please be sure to make payment arrangements at both agencies if paying in installments.
JCBA Annual Campaign Requirement
The JewishAkron Annual Campaign supports many programs of value to Jewish families in our community, with a mission of promoting Jewish education in Akron, cultivating you Jewish leaders, and providing a campus that nurtures and supports family and community connections. A donation to the JewishAkron Annual Campaign is requested from all J-Ticket purchasers. Please help us sustain a thriving JewishAkron with a contribution to the Annual Campaign.
Acceptance in the J-Ticket Program
