Introducing a New Overnight Camp Scholarship

JewishAkron is proud to introduce a new $2,000 grant per child for JewishAkron families in the Greater Akron area sending their children to an approved Jewish overnight/sleepaway camp for the summer of 2027. The grant will be available regardless of financial need. Children must be entering second grade or older to qualify.

To apply, families should register for an approved camp, complete the form on this page, and email the completed form to Dawn at Dheffner@shawjcc.org. All applications must be received no later than October 25, 2026. You will be notified on/around November 10, 2026.

This grant may be combined with other financial assistance, and families are encouraged to also explore support through their synagogue.

Our goal is to make Jewish overnight camp accessible to more children and help them build lasting connections to Jewish community and experiences.

Looking Ahead: For the 2028 camp season, JewishAkron hopes to expand the program with additional grants for returning campers and financial assistance for families who need additional help covering camp costs. These expanded opportunities will depend on additional funding and approval.
